E-Pass Transponders
There are all kinds of names, E-Pass, SunPass, MacPass, etc. Transponders stuck on our windshields allow us to pass through various tolls and have the charge deducted from our account/credit card.
Only One
Just about every facility that issues these transponders has a warning, "you should only have one transponder mounted on your vehicle." I take it that means interference between them can cause difficulties.
Each year we spend the winter months in Florida, traveling by road to that destination. While there we tend to visit at least one other area each year.
That's a lot of roads, a lot of toll highways, toll bridges and so on. The state of Maine in particular has a lot of toll roads as well as Florida and other areas.
No Cash
Some areas such as southern Florida towards the keys, you must purchase a transponder to travel the toll highways, because there are no cash booth facilities.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have a transponder/E-Pass that worked everywhere.
I am sure that is possible, since its an electronic device that is programmable. Like ordering online, any account should be able to be added. One account for all.
It shouldn't be that difficult for the various agencies to make that happen.
Change
Imagine the comfort and yes safety, of being able to travel nearly everywhere without fumbling for change, stopping for change or wondering which lane you should be in for change, that would be good for a change.
