Shortchanging Kids - This Still Goes On
I was not surprised to read this in the letters to the editor of our local paper. One of my sons worked at a gas station many years ago, and they pulled the same stunt.
Often it is the employer that is to blame. For example one person to watch a multitude of pumps on night shifts. Or their equipment is in disrepair and does not record properly. He was smart enough not to take that crap and went to Consumers Affairs.
Why should a person getting barely minimum wage, have a pay reduction because some customer decides to drive off? Especially when they often have insurance to cover such occurances. There is the person getting minimum wage covering a large corporation - no wonder they have billions of dollars profit each year.
