Just Looking
It is said by sales people that nearly every customer when asked “Can I help you?”, will answer “No I am just looking.”
Fact is, when I say “No I am just looking”, I am just looking. What I can’t figure out is when I really do want something, there is never anyone around to ask, “Can I help you”.
When you do go into a store to look, there are always a swarm of sales people willing to assist. Go in to buy something, and they are all busy, stocking, talking, and walking.
I found the solution in the big electronics store though. When everyone seems busy and you want something, go to the biggest, most expensive computer in the store and start playing with it. In seconds you will have at least two sales people at your shoulder with the “Can I help you” routine.
All you have to do then is say, “Yes, I want this little widget over here in the glass case”.
