Give Me An Estimate

Certain local home improvement outlets have a neat deal for estimates. Say you want new kitchen cupboards, counter top, etc. You go to the store and they make an appointment for you to come back the next day so someone can show you what's available on the computer. (Thats one trip.)

You go back the next day and if you like what they show you on the computer you make an appointment for them to come measure and give you an estimate. (That's two trips.) Oh yeah, and they charge you $50. for that. That is credited to you if you buy from them, but if you don't then write that off as a loss.

After the measurement and if you decide to buy from them, you have to pay the full amount before they will place your order.(That's three trips.) Some weeks later your stuff would be made and installed. Since you paid for everything up front you better be satisfied.

Nice little deal we have going there. I'd rather pay double for someone else to do it. I already had that experience when they installed a new door for me. I won't even mention how the price esclated on that job dome prepo!
