We Remember

Today we honour the thousands of Canadians whose lives came to an end giving us what we have today - the best country in the world.

This includes those lost in former wars in years gone by, those lost not so long ago during peace keeping operations and even more recently those lost during peace enforcement activities that are still going on right now.

It is too easy to watch the evening news and just see 'another one' as the numbers increase and things become almost ordinary.

It is never ordinary!

This video shows exactly what I am talking about. Take the time to watch it. Look at each individuals face. Think of what is going on in the minds of those that are left behind. It is so hard to be proud and deal with grief at the same time.

My friend MizD said it very well, in her words: "As I watched each soldier's face, I was reminded that they were someone's child, mother, father, husband, or wife, or maybe even someone's best friend or only friend in life".

So I hope today you attend one of the remembrance ceremonies, watch some of the associated events on TV, or at least pause for those two minutes at the 11th hour.

I know I will - I will always remember and be so thankful.
