Internet Video

Internet video is rapidly expanding to main stream during every day internet use. It wasn't that long ago that internet video was a choppy, jerky, look and wait type of endurance. With broadband connections and improvements in the technology of late, it has become almost as good as regular TV if you can stand the small pictures. And the small pictures are fine for what it is intended for.

Chris Pirillo
has set up his own show about numerous computer topics online. I think most of those go very well. An enormous amount of venders now use videos online to show their products features, how to install and use them. Chat systems use them for seeing each other over great distances. YouTube type sites allow us to see almost anything we can imagine and more. There are many more good uses for internet video that make our life so much easier.

As with everything there is a down side. Remember when email first came out? Instant communication no matter where you are so long as you have an internet connection. Then came spam.

Now enter the era of video pollution. I used to have people sending me jokes via email. I average 60 - 70 emails a day, so most go to the junk folder automatically, with the filters I have set up. Now I find I am going to have to add video filters. For some reason people want to send YouTube videos. Why not send the link. Nope they send the whole video. So now email takes longer to download even on high speed.

I recently added FunWall to my Facebook account because so many invitations were coming to join FunWall. In two days I ended up with sixty YouTube videos on my FunWall. Boy that was fun - removing FunWall. My sense of humour is quite different from most people and if I wanted to watch them they are on YouTube. I can get that site the same as they can with a simple click.

So this is Video Spam. Can we call it Vam?

(I was tempted to enter a YouTube video here just for 'fun'.)
