No I Don't Want To Yak
Received another one of those telemarketer calls this evening from Yak, a company that deals in various phone plans and calling methods. I was familiar with their service so when the gentleman asked: "Do you make many long distance calls?" I replied: "Not many, very few in fact, and I have a VOIP plan that I am happy with, plus a long distance plan with my local telephone company."
What is there about that statement that is hard to understand? He proceeds to tell me he is not switching anything (interesting way of putting it), and goes on about the various cost effective rates Yak has to offer.
So I interrupt this human word generator and ask: "Why don't you listen to what I am saying? I just told you I have a VOIP internet service I am very happy with, plus a local long distance plan. I am not interested in a single thing Yak has to offer - thank you bye now!"
Less than a minute later I receive a second call from Yak which went unanswered.
So that made me think I should make today's blog an advertisement for Skype. I don't work for them or get anything for this, I am just a satisfied user. I am a paid user and use Skype Pro which gives me free long distance in Canada & the US for $36. a year. You can use the computer for making the calls, or an ordinary cordless phone if you purchase a small device made by D-link.
I will write a short review of the Skype service and the D-link attachment once I finish a two month testing period. However so far I am very satisfied with both. If interested you can check the Skype site, I am not going to repeat all that here.
One thing for certain, if I decide to Yak it will be on Skype!
