NASCAR Road Rage
I am not sure whether to call it road rage or track rage. Over the past week I have been watching some of the programs on Speed Channel leading up to the coming Daytona 500, which signifies the start of a new race season.
I have been a race fan off and on for years, with a renewed interest over the past couple seasons.
I thought road rage only existed out on public roads for the most part until I watched a practise run on TV the other night. A practise run!
You can't win anything here, only practise and get the cars set up. Well two drivers contacted each other and then the rage began. One driver intentionally broad sided the other. As they headed for the pits, each tried to push the other around using their car. Then tried to block the entrance to the pit exit to the garage area.
Well the drivers got called into a meeting with the NASCAR officials and punishment is supposed to be issued Tuesday or so. Apparently these two have been into it for a long time.
I think suitable punishment would be to ban them for the season. Set the example for others joining the racing competition. Bad enough that such stuff exists on our roads, but professionals exhibiting this sort of behavour.
Competition will always bring disagreements, but it should not be to the extent that it is dangerous to others.
