Remote Desktop Connection
As promised at the beginning of the week the instructions for Remote Desktop Connection have been posted on NSCAVE.com. There are many sites on the internet that describe how to do that, but I hope ours will show it in simple format and make the process just a little easier.
Remote Desktop Connection is handy when you have more than one computer in your household and you need to power them up, get something off them, or power them down without actually going to that particular computer. In other words you run the remote computer from the one you are sitting in front of, just as if you were sitting at the keyboard and monitor of the other one.
If you have several computers you can run them all from one keyboard and monitor, switching from one to the other at will, with no lag or delays.
- There are a few 'must haves'.
- You must be running Windows XP Pro (or Media Edition), or Vista Home Premium or higher.
- You must have a wired LAN system.
- You must know the MAC addresses of your computers and it is a good idea to lock in static IP numbers for each unit.
This is all done with what is already built in to the above operating systems.
If you have the need or the urge to run your other computer(s) from any one you have hooked to your wired LAN, follow the steps on our web site. It is easier than you think and is well worth a half hour or so of your time.
