Natural Gas

I know very little about natural gas other than the kind that is released with identifiable sounds and recognizable odours.

As I sit here watching the evening news showing pictures of a house that is destroyed, along with a neighbourhood scattered with debris, it makes me wonder just how natural it is. This happened in a nearby province while the owners apparently were away on vacation.

I have observed similar stories many times, with almost identical results. Our province is in the early stages of trying to get natural gas distributed to various communities, and at the same time trying to convince us that such an option is cleaner, more friendly to the environment and cheaper.

They would have a hard time convincing me. Sure, there may be communities that have used this fuel for years with no problem at all. But it only takes once. I don't want it, wouldn't even want to live next to a house that has it, and I hope it never comes to my street.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.
