Too Many Golden Years
The news across the country has been cluttered with articles both in print and other media, that there are too many seniors that are about to overload our system and cause all kinds of difficulties for our health care system. We are led to believe other care facilities will be stretched to the limit and that such care is funded by those in the working force that pay via deductions to supply this care.
The number of those who will soon require this care will soon out number the working force that supposedly is supplying the funds. Or so they would like you to believe.
However, lets look at the problem from another direction. Most of those that will require this care have just recently ended their working years or are about to. Nearly all of those people, including myself, contributed to the system via deduction and taxes for all of their working years at the highest rate.
Consequently I have some questions, for it seems to me there should be a surplus of money in that 'account'.
- Did inadequate management send this money to other more stringent causes at the time?
- Was the money just taken away like it was when they took part of our military pensions because they wanted to, even though it was money we paid in?
- Did it help pay travel expenses for exotic trips to far off lands in the interest of free trade?
- Was it donated to help other countries whose plight supposedly was worse than ours?
The list could go on and on. I am not saying any of these things happened. But many questions arise every time I hear aging 'baby-boomers' are out numbering contributors.
Seems to me most of us paid our way, but now we are being told we didn't.
