Driving Rules

Went for a little cruise across the province the other day. Sometimes our traffic information signs can be very confusing.

For example, leaving the city of Sydney, I wanted to be sure I was in the right lane. Overhead signs indicated "Right Lane Must Exit." So the right lane is not the right lane, the left one is. Course the right lane might be the right lane for you because you might want to exit.

A little further along, again I wanted to be sure I was in the right lane. But this time the sign says "Right Lane Right Turn Only." An overhead sign indicated the left most lane was a left turn lane. Since I wanted to go straight, it turned out the centre lane was the right lane this time, not the right lane.

Antigonish is a quaint little town. They have a couple signs that say "Be Prepared To Stop When Flashing." That might be a case for a new law like the hands free cell phone law. No flashing while moving, could be dangerous.

It gets better, for when I was almost home, yet another sign appears, "Right Lane Ends 500M." Awwwh shucks! Since the basic rule of driving in North America says you drive in the right hand lane, that sign means I have to turn around and go back.

Yeah driving just isn't the same anymore, take a look at this.
