Efficient Green Comments
When I hear politicians and others make stupid comments about what we should do to combat rising prices it makes me sick. For example, buy a more fuel efficient vehicle they say, as they ride around in their limos and helicopters at our expense.
Fuel efficient cars cost more than twice as much. If you can't afford to buy fuel for the one you have now, how in the name of blazes are you going to afford payments for a new fuel efficient one over more years while still having to buy fuel to keep it going?
Or take the bus. There's a thoughtless comment if I ever heard one. It might work in the city for some, but certainly wouldn't help country folk much. And even myself as a city slicker, if I wanted to visit my mother in the hospital, it is two hours away if I drive, (an hour and a half if I follow the 110 kph speed limit on the four lane portions), and I get there with time to visit and get back the same day. If I take the bus, it would take me two days to get there and back, and would require visiting hours in the late evening beyond 8 pm.
Even going "Green" costs us a lot more than we are led to believe. For example we now need to recycle. But it takes twice as many trucks to pick up the stuff and deposit it where it belongs. Regular garbage one time, that goes to a landfill area, green bin crap that can be recycled and goes to another location where it is handled several times adding to costs.
Even compact fluorescent bulbs which supposedly protect the environment and cost us less - cost us more. They cost twice as much to buy, don't last nearly the five years advertised, and have mercury in them which require special disposal procedures.
The list could go on, but I get tired of hearing comments from those in power who think we are going to believe all the bulloney chucked at us.
We all chuckle in wonderment as we hear about those who get sucked in to some scam on the internet by clicking on something they didn't fully check out. Well the internet isn't the only place that has scams.
