YouTube Horrible Sound Tracks

There are a lot of well produced videos on YouTube consisting of subjects that often do not receive full coverage anywhere else. And even on subjects that are covered by the national media you can often find YouTube videos that show more details or look at things from a different angle.

What I can't understand is why three quarters of the people who put videos on there have to add horrible vocal music. And I do mean horrible. Granted, everyone has different musical tastes, but I don't understand why anyone would put an irriating vocal to pictures of the recent Fredericton flood. Or the same addition to a video of an rFactor car race or Flight Simulator landing.

I can usually tolerate an instrumental background, although often I don't see the point of it, a natural sound track would have more impact. Sure there are times when the right kind of instrumental background can add a lot to the video experience - if it fits.

Just turn it down, or hit the mute button if you don't like it, many people say. But I, like many others who have told me, elect to just cancel the video instead, and go on to one more appealing. For this reason many well produced and interesting YouTube videos are not being viewed.

So if you are one of the people who go through the trouble and labour of putting a video together for YouTube or a similar service, think about the whole package. You could attract a lot more viewers to your mini-production if only you got rid of the horrible vocal sound track that doesn't fit your subject matter.
