I Think I Am An Insulted Senior - Again!

This is a follow up to my blog entry of July 04, 2008image.

I assume I received a phone call from the same survey company, because the questions and procedure were close to identical.

I answer the call, which this time has both name and number blocked. "Good evening sir," the caller says. "We are conducting a survey in your area and will give you $60. just for showing up. Would this be something you are interested in?" he asks.

"It depends on the date and time frame," I reply, "when is it, and what is the survey about?"

"It will be held on two evenings, at (the local Holiday Inn) at 7 pm and will take about an hour" he says proudly. "Would you be interested?" he asks.

"I am not 100% sure of my schedule on those dates," I say, "but yes I could be."

"No problem" he says, "I will ask a couple of questions to see if you qualify. If you do and there is a problem, you can just let us know."

Now we go through the age bracket questions again with the last category ending at age 55. "I am well over the age of 55" I say.

"You are over age 55?" says the caller with a surprised tone. "I sure am," I reply.

"I am sorry sir, our quota in that age bracket has already been filled. Thank you very much for your time." is the response.

Am I insulted? Not really, I find it humorous. At least the age question was moved to the top of the list. And the tactful exit was kind of cool even though I could tell the category spoken of likely didn't exist.

Where else can you get free blog material? Maybe I should start telling them 'This call may be recorded - for purposes known as blogging.'
