I Think I Am An Insulted Senior
I just got a call from TNS, the caller starting out with a long winded explanation that they are a key research company. They would like me to answer some questions, they are not selling anything, and it would only take a few minutes and would be appreciated.
So I asked what's the questions. "They are about radios stations," came the reply. "Fine," I said, "Go Ahead."
Well the introductory took another couple minutes trying to determine if I worked for any radio, TV, media or public relations company. "No,'" was my short and sweet answer.
"I would like to speak to an adult in the household between the ages of 25 and 64, would that be you sir?" the caller asked. "I am a little over 64," I replied. "You're over 64?" he said. "Yeah a little," I repeated. "Well I am sorry, you can't do the survey," the caller said, "have a nice day."
So TNS thanks for the call, but don't call again. There are two things that tick me off.
1) People over 64 listen to the radio too. They also watch TV, they participate in the media, and guess what - they write blogs like these.
2) If you had told your caller to say this sentence at the beginning of the call:
"I would like to speak to an adult in the household between the ages of 25 and 64, would that be you sir?"
- this would not have appeared at all. I think your call was an insult and uncaring.
