What's Your Home Page
No blog for the last couple of days due to personal family commitments.
Had one of those survey calls. This one was supposed to do only with internet usage and related topics.
"Are you willing to answer a few questions about internet usage," she asks. "Sure," I say, "my favourite topic."
"Do you have high speed internet?"
"Yes."
"Who is your provider?"
"Eastlink."
And so the questions went, then we hit a snag. "What home page is your browser set for?" she asks. "nscave.com" I reply.
"No, no," she says, " What web site is your home page set to? You know, like Aliant, Eastlink, Shaw, AOL, or whatever."
"Nscave.com," I say again. "You are not understanding me," she says. I need to know what your homepage is when your browser first starts up. "You are not understanding me," I suggest. "My home page is www.nscave.com and that is it.I run my own web page. Why would my home page be set to someone else's?"
"I am not sure we are understanding each other," she says, "I think we should disregard the survey, you have a nice day, thanks for your cooperation."
The following day the phone rings again, with the same long distance number showing on the display. "Are you willing to answer a few questions about internet usage," a man asks.
"I am sorry sir, no one there understands me, so a survey on internet usage is impossible. Thanks for calling me though, it is nice to be popular. Call again when you get a chance. Bye now!" was my reply.
