It's The Little Things
When you look back certain gems of guidance seem so trivial yet stick with you the rest of your life. For example when I was growing up my Dad often said to me, "Pay attention to the small details, the big things will almost take care of themselves."
The first time I heard that I was harrowing a field with the tractor pulling a set of disc harrows. Seems I was missing some of the corners and had the centre well stirred up. Of course when planting a field, the corners are just as important as the rest. Sure enough, get in there and get the corners and the rest gets done because that's where you turn around.
Or when I was painting the manure spreader (that was a crappy job) I was told to get all those little spots in the corners, and around the small levers. It was later proven that if you didn't the first place rust would appear on those larger panels was where you missed a small spot underneath or in the corner.
That small spot advice holds true in so many things as you go on in life. Cleaning windows? Gotta get those corners done first. Cleaning a mirror the same thing. Washing your car? Same holds true there.
Cleaning a room? Where do the dust bunnies roll our from after you are done? Right, they come from the corners you missed.
So it comes down to the fact - It's the little things that count. So all you men out there that feel so inadequate, remember that.
It's The Little Things That Count!
