Sticky Slippers

Since my slippers were getting a little shabby in the sense they had semi-removable soles I decided to get a new pair. They just don't stand wet grass like they used to.

I go direct to the slipper department and all I want is a pair of basic slippers. Well there is a ten foot rack of them. Everything from monkey headed monster slippers to slip on's that look like they would slip off easier than they would slip on.

I have always admired those kids shoes ( and adults too) that you just slide into and flip the flap to keep them snugly on your tootsies with the neatly concealed velcro. I've admired the little kids shoes with the flashing LED lights too, but we won't get into that.

So I proudly leave the store with my new velcro flapped slippers. Heck, they even included a comfy removable cushioned insert that makes you feel like you are walking on air.

Well to make a short story long, I wore them around last evening, and they worked pretty good. The velcro sticky flaps held them in place and I can tell they won't stretch and get loose like the ordinary slip on kind because the adjustable velcro flip the flap closures will always make them fit snugly. Say that in one breath.

Then this morning things began to change. As I was sitting at my laptop checking the morning news and having that first flush of coffee, I crossed my feet. Now I hadn't bothered to flip the flap and fasten the newly acquired slippers because I wasn't walking far in the immediate future.

First thing you know velcro to velcro sprang into action and my feet were securely attached to each other foot top to foot top.

So there I sit at the laptop desk with both feet tightly fastened together. How many ton is that velcro rated for? Pretty neat trick. These Chinese manufacturers really have something going here. Can't say I have been so securely hog-tied before. If you manage to reach and separate one flap, the other jumps quickly into place to maintain security.

Maybe I will look for the ones with LED lights. They could serve as a warning. Feet apart, walk this way ...
