Salute To The Everyday Housewife - The Home Maker
Since my wife's passing I have had to do my own housework, and I have made some humorous comments from time to time in this blog. Fact is, it is a continuous effort of hard labour. I make my bed first thing every day, sweep the floors, dust, vacuum, wash the dishes after every meal, do the laundry - you know the routine.
Then I look around, and there is dust on the ornaments, fingerprints on the tables, cat nose prints on the window, ruffled up mats in the corner and on it goes.
When my wife was here there was never any of that. Never a spec of dust, never a thing out of place, not in the slightest, day after day. Every single item was in its place, dust free and looking like it was just polished. And our yard and outside area was just as tidy too, for gardening was one of her pleasures.
Although I knew she worked very hard all the time, she made it look like she wasn't doing anything. She was always there for me, to spend time together whenever I was around.
She was a true home maker - her family and her home was her world.
There are thousands out there like her, who choose to stay at home rather than work outside. Those who work at home, work a lot harder than any office job, or any other like occupation.
Some will argue they have to work outside, and still do all the housework when they get home. Maybe so, I am not about to argue the point. Especially when you get your other half to do a lot of the work, or the kids, or perhaps even hire it done.
If you choose to work outside, that's fine. It is wonderful to have that choice available.
However I would just like to thank all those who are true home makers. You are appreciated, you work extremely hard day after day at a job that is never done, and your efforts make this world a better place.
