It's Easy To Say
You hear it often when disasters occur, motor vehicle accidents take place, and lately with some of the aircraft incidents that have taken place. Even the media outlets bring in their so called experts to discuss some event that just happened.
In the case of the latest aircraft incident we hear the airplane was on auto-pilot too long. Didn't they know the de-icing system was to be turned on at the first sign of ice? (It was later determined it was on well ahead of time.) Did they have enough experience? Did they do things correctly? The aircraft was new, did they know how to fly it? And on and on it goes.
The resulting investigation after many months usually determines what the cause is. Usually, because a judgement has to be made after analyzing a mountain of data - after all they weren't there. In the meantime the media experts and others will continue with their remarks.
It's easy to say if you weren't there, and if you were there you wouldn't be here!
