Label the Pictures
I have snapshots and photographs that go back several generations. They are in boxes, envelopes and between pages of books. This is the digital age, and my goal in my older years is to assemble those items in some sensible form to be recorded on CD or DVD so future generations will have a visual history of family years gone by.
But the pictures are not labeled. People that are my relatives, I have no idea who they are, for the people that knew their names have passed on. It is almost impossible to find out exactly who they are now.
Today with digital cameras we take even more pictures than ever and save them on computers, discs and storage drives. Take the time to add some captions. Who are they? Where was the picture taken? On what date? There are many free easy to use photo programs that will take care of this.
Sure, everyone knows that is Aunt Sally, - now, but what about a couple generations from now? Will the pictures be tossed away or deleted because no one remembers? You took the time to capture the moment, now take the time to add the information in the form of a short caption.
Pictures and videos are important only if you know who, where and when. Take the time to add some captions now. Your kids, their kids and their kids will appreciate it when you are not around to explain.
