Halloween Is Different Now
Halloween used to be for the kids. Then because of changing times adults had to go along to protect the kids. And now I think some of it is for adults.
“He’s At The Front Door”
People that do participate, and many choose not to, usually turn on the light and wait at the door for the trick or treaters. Several times at one house they would go to the unlighted door way and ring the bell. The best one was when the owner of the house shouted out the door, “Come to the other door.” The adult guidance councillor in the van yelled back, “He’s at the other door.”
Don’t tell your kid to go to the other door. Duh!
Get There Faster On An ATV
The next thing you know Santa Claus will come by ATV. The doorbell rings, two young ones are at the door and it sounds like a motorcycle in the driveway. Closer observation reveals the children arrived on an ATV and are being chauffeured door to door in style.
Maybe its faster that way. Wait until the Star wars transporter comes along.
Carloads, No Van Loads
Used to be kids had to walk block to block to get the goodie bags filled. In the country sometimes you walked for miles. Not these days. Get good ‘ole Mom or Dad to drive you around. Never mind those streets, dump them off at the good streets. In my neighbourhood there was almost a parking problem.
I think next year I will get into the charter bus business.
Carry On
The ones I like the best are the ‘carry on’ style. Small babies and children being carried door to door by their parents. What I wonder is when those bags of goodies are filled with bars and chips, who eats them?
Halloween is for kids, some kids are just bigger than others and have carry ons!
