How’s Your Housework Going – part of a series.

Most of the things I have learned about house work I learned from women. They are so efficient and fast, getting things done in a tenth of the time it takes us men to do it.

I haven’t got the speed part figured out yet, but there are some tiddly little things you learn as well. For example I learned the fancy stripe on the bed sheet goes to the top of the bed, not the bottom where I used to put it. I figured everyone that gets to enter the bedroom sees the foot of the bed first, and that is where the stripe should be. Not so. Apparently that belongs at the top of the bed under the pillows.

Don’t ask why. I never did.

In this housecleaning education process, there are some things that just don’t get explained. I often thought that being in an all male household since my wife passed a few years ago, it might be a good idea to hire some cleaning now and then. You know, those registered bonded groups that do everything for you, or individuals that drop in once a week to tidy up the place.

The part I can’t figure out, is that some women I know always clean up before the cleaning person(s) come. When I ask why, I get the answer, “Can’t have the place looking like this, they will think I am awful, living in this mess.” Hmmm, that’s what I thought the purpose of hiring cleaning people was, to tidy up and clean up the mess. I am lost on that one.

Course now when I think of it, I know a lot of women that have to do their hair before they go to the hairdresser to get their hair done.

Some things I may never understand.
