In Five Years Time

Saturdays blog had a humourous twist to things that happen as we grow older. There is a more serious side to the aging process that you don’t hear much about.

For example, I was reading an article about future wireless growth, basically a prediction of what our wireless devices will be like in five years time. We all know how fast our electronics devices are being improved, and how we can’t leave home without them.

When you are in your forties or thereabouts five years into the future doesn’t seem very far. Time passes quickly. Even things predicted to happen in twenty years is on your radar screen, with some things you can hardly wait for, and others you wish would never happen.

As you arrive to the senior status, thoughts change. Sometimes you don’t realize it, but they do. You think, where will I be then? Will I get to see that new prediction? What’s the difference? Today and tomorrow are what is important.

You enjoy what is here and what you have now. Perhaps you think how good it will be for your sons and daughters, and the grand children. Or how bad it will be for them, for future predictions are not always good.

However your perception of time and time available is altered. Sometimes time passes very quickly with years seeming like months. In other cases years can seem like an eternity.

There is a good part too. No schedule, no commitment, and you have fulfilled most of your obligations. (Translated: I’ll do it when I want to, if I feel like it, when I get around to it.)
