The News Makes Me Laugh

Some things are just so funny its not funny! Been awhile since a blog entry, but today I just had to. Our news is on a roll.

Is This The Merry Christmas Crowd?

First we were forbidden to say Merry Christmas in case we may offend some special group. (By the way Merry Christmas, early.) Now we are not allowed to say white. How dumb have we become? You can’t say “You’re white?” Give me a break. If you have a white house how can you describe the colour? Why does everything have to be turned into a defensive description? Or is it offensive. Pretty soon we will have to get approval to say ‘hello’. Give me a break!

Bring On The Torch

And this Olympic Torch thing. First of all, I used to think when this torch was carried it would go from one side of this land of ours(?) to the other, non-stop and it would never go out. Now we have these big propane lighters (or whatever fuel they use) that are carried a couple kilometres up the road, then it is put out and driven to some other location for a repeat fire it up and carry a couple kilometres. What’s with that?

The second thing about this, is how did they pick the carriers? The actual sports figures representing our country get to carry it a minimal amount of time. What you see on TV is TV personalities trotting along as if it were theirs. Times have changed. Give me a break!

Centre of Gravity Too High

Then we have this report about a fireboat test that took place last summer. The centre of gravity was too high so the boat tipped over. “Where were you when the boat tipped over?” No one would have ever guessed that. These researchers must have went to a real school. Give me a break!

No Matter What You Do You Are

Our troops are off in some foreign country fighting for the good of all and we appreciate them. Don’t we? I sure do, but the leading stories now say we are responsible for the enemy even when we hand them back to the enemy.

All the different things going on these days seem to indicate things are changing. I used to hear “this is the 80’s.” Then it was “it’s the nineties now”. Now I guess it is the ‘twenties’. What happened? Did we back the truck up?
