Florida Here I Am
Well the adventure took place and I am in Panama City Beach, Florida for a few months. The trip had a couple minor events or observances, which I shall write about later.
I am not sure, but I think some of the Canadian winter may have followed me, for it is colder than normal in this part of Florida. Now mind you, the temperature is going to be 73 deg. F. tomorrow and there is no snow, but the norm here has been coats and hats to put up with the cool rain.
To top it off, on awakening this morning we had no power. That means no heat in an electrically heated home. Welcome to Florida – I can see that smiling alligator on the sign in my dreams.
It is an awesome place, with a strip that is miles long, and the house I am staying in is right at the edge of where the business district ends and the residential area begins. Less than 500 yards away is the white sand beach that stretches from horizon to horizon in both directions.
Clubs, restaurants and shopping are in abundance throughout the entire area.
It is my intention in a while to take lots of pictures and present them as a three minute slide show every week or so.
Only one thing I am concerned about. When I went to Germany in 1969, I was told I would like it, and there would be no snow, only freezing rain and perhaps a flurry or two. That year Germany had the biggest snow storm they had had in years.
So if it is going to snow in Florida, this would be the year. No, it couldn’t do that could it? Keep that temperature at 73 degrees like it is going to be tomorrow.
