More Alerts
On the serious side
We seem to be going through a period of increased warning of less desirable things on the internet. Some are new, and some are things that have been there all along that we need to be cautious and aware of.
Foistware
This one has been around for a long time, and is on the increase these days, especially during updates and when installing free programs. Bob Rankin explains this one very well.
UPnP
A short time ago we were warned to disable, even better uninstall Java. Now its UPnP that we need to be aware of and take action.
UnPlug n'Pray
If you don’t know how to turn off UPnP, here’s an easy way to do it. Download this little program and when you run it, it will tell you if you have UPnP, and if you do allow you to turn it on and off at will.
By the way, the GRC site is worth checking from time to time, a top rated security site.
