Columbus Nina Pinta

IMGA0002a

I remember learning to recite the poem, "In fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue ..." in my early school years.

I had no vision of what that meant at that early age, other than some guy with three ships sailed some where into the blue.

A replica of two of those ships visited Panama City Marina, Florida this past weekend.

I have a vision now.

To set out on the ocean blue back then in ships the size of the Nina and Pinta would be an adventure for sure. They are small.

Heck, not being a boating enthusiast, I wouldn't even want to set out on the ocean in something that size today.

The vision I have now makes me realize how determined and adventurous those mariners were back then, without radio, GPS and all.
