Shsshhhh… I’m Listening
Some of you may be old enough to remember the old telephone party lines, where there were 20 or more people on a line, especially out in the country.
And every day, sometimes for hours, Mom, Granny or Auntie would carefully lift the receiver so as not to generate a click, while covering the wall mounted mouthpiece, and listen in to get the latest news gossip of the day.
After the warning of “not to make a sound,” the entire house would go silent.
Technology has improved that. You don't have to do than anymore. Today all you need to do is walk through any aisle of a store. There's always someone on a cell phone. If you don't like that story, change aisles. There's always several more on at the same time.
Or stand in line at the check-out.
Or at a bus stop.
You can hear pretend business people making the deals of a life time.
You can hear the intimate encounters of the young, the middle age and the restless.
You can hear check-in moms assessing whether the check-in from junior is on time, late or where is that little … and,
You can hear the elite plans for the highest social gathering ever planned down at the end of the block.
Now if there was only a way to listen in on those 'texts'.
