Florida Cold
Weather is changing all over with strange patterns and storms where you least expect them.
One of the benefits of working all those years and easing into retirement, is we choose to leave our colder winter home and enjoy mild winters in Florida.
Did I say mild? Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.
I remember several years ago for a month or more, it was colder in Florida where we stay than it was in Nova Scotia on a lot of days.
Last year it was warm for most of our four month stay, exactly as we expected.
This year? Hmmm, very very weird. December and January were unusually warm. We thought, "Wow, this is going to be the best year yet." People were swimming at the beach, and strolling around in light clothing and shorts.
February started out with a few warm days and some cold nights. Then the warm days became less warm. Then the warm almost disappeared.
Here it is the beginning of March, with thousands of spring breakers about to increase the population. If they arrive in their bikinis and shorts like they usually do, they will be in for a surprise if conditions don't change soon and fast.
Forecasters say we are in for a cold weekend, and the week ahead.
I hope the weather soon gets back to normal. Or is this the new normal?
At least there is no snow. But its getting awfully close.
