I’ll Return Your Call
I've heard many people are getting rid of their standard home phone and rely only on their cell phone.
Will businesses do that too? Does that mean you will actually be able to talk to somebody?
I can't recall calling one business over the last few months and actually having a person answer.
Press 1 for English. Press 2 if you know the number of the person you are calling. Huh? Press 3 for a list of our departments.

"All of our agents are busy. Your call will be answered in order eventually." Press 1 to wait with horrible music. Press 2 to hear horrible advertisements. Press 3 if I get on your nerves. Press * to disconnect.

"Brrrrrrrup" "Click click, pause" "Hello, this is - MS BRIGHTBUNNY - (different voice) The time is __ the date is __ I am in the office with a customer or whatever and can't come to the phone right now I am sorry for the inconvenience your call is important to us Please leave a message after the tone stating your phone number your name the reason you are calling what the weather is like where you are and why you are bothering me at this particular time I will call you back as soon as possible or later."
Sorry about no punctuation in the above paragraph. Pauses and commas do not seem to be part of recorded messages.
10 sec. pause. "Beeeeep!"
Geeze now I forget what I called for. That was 45 minutes ago.
"Are you still there?"
'Press 3'
"You have pressed an incorrect key."
"Please hang up and call again. Our operating hours are 9 to 5."
Do you think this is stupid? Funny? Negative?
I have three places to call in one day. I can't get them all in 9 to 5 ...
