Network Scanner

My home computing depends on a network or LAN to keep everything running smoothly, including linking computers and printers together. In fact there are routers connected to routers here.

I ran across a free program called Network Scanner awhile ago. I think it was one of my newsletters that brought it to my attention first. I had previously tried one called Network Magic that didn't work out for me.

Network Scanner by SoftPerfect is a fine little program that does a lot of things. It will show the computers online on your LAN, routers that are present and anything else connected including intruders. It instantly shows the IP addresses of all that is connected along with the various MAC address of each component as well.

Depending on how you set the options it will show much more, such as the shared folders and hidden shared folders of each unit. It also allows easy access to them by just double clicking the folder and it opens in explorer.

This program is small, free, and requires no installation. You just run it. You can read all the details on their web site. If you have a home network, this one is worth checking, it is a keeper as far as I am concerned.

How many times have you heard it?

Be neat if there was a program for real life that would check to see if things are working right.

How many times have you been told, "Get it in writing", anytime you are making a deal or are involved in a transaction. Yet the powers that run this country make deals between the provincial and federal departments and rely on the good faith of someone somewhere, and a couple of emails or letters.

Oh well, an Accord is an automobile as far as I am concerned anyway.
