Country Generations
Did something different, for me anyway, last night(May 10, 2009). I attended a Country Generations music show in Wolfville. This is a local Nova Scotia band.
Usually one local country band is the same as the next, but this one is unique in several ways. I had heard the name, but was not really familiar with them other than that.
Members are mostly family members, with some friends included, and I won’t go into the details since this information is readily available on various web sites and blogs that they have. It looks like they were together, kind of disbanded and then got together again. Commentary included the facts they had toured Australia, been to Nashville for some recording dates and have a number of CDs of the market with various country and gospel themes.
The audience was mostly made up of folks from the older ‘generation’ but with a good percentage of younger and middle age members also. After all, this was a mother’s day show and there were many “Moms” in attendance.
The point of this blog is that this was a very good show from start to finish. There were many guest performers as well, and each of them were top notch country singers with lots of stage presence. It was really enlightening to see band members from several generations playing together in such harmony and really getting into the music.
If you want more information on this family oriented country band, just google “countrygenerations” which will take you to some of their various informative sites. Or if you get a chance to go see them, do so. One of their gatherings will be an outdoor event at Margaretsville, Nova Scotia on the second Saturday of July.
Sometimes local bands have a lot to offer. That is certainly the case with Country Generations.
