Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers
One of the adventures this weekend was to stay a little closer to home and attend my first 50plusexpo.
I just noticed if you read 50plusexpo in a certain way it has a different meaning. Anyway there were the usual displays and informative booths covering everything from health issues to tours across the land.
A show like this makes you think beyond what the intention of the organizers is. How lucky you are compared to others who have various difficulties. Some of the people you seen before seem so much older now, (and they are,) and (don’t tell me to go look in the mirror.) A lot of years have passed for a lot of people, and there isn’t as many years left. It is time to reap and enjoy what you worked so hard for in your own special way.
The show contained various entertainment venues, and the highlight for us was Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers, an hour and a half of non-stop humour and music. With the usual Newfoundland accent and sometimes serious music, that hour and a half passed very quickly.
This is only a sample from YouTube of how active the show can be, and how the audience joins right in. Buddy demonstrated why the band doesn’t need drums. First time I ever saw a human drum set complete with all the sounds.
And there were some monologues similar to this one where you never actually knew what the punch line was going to be until the exact second of the end.
I have never been much for live shows, but this one was top notch from beginning to end. If you ever get a chance to see Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers, whether on TV, live, or where ever, do it.
