This Week’s PITA Award

Videos that automatically play on websites.

Don't you just hate those blaring videos that automatically start on web pages? More often than not the text version is there and just after you start reading it, the video blares its audio at you from above or below.

But which is it? Above or below?

PITA

You search frantically as you grab the volume control, scrolling up and down trying to find the video so you can stop it. If you do manage to locate it, it probably doesn't have a normal stop button.

If you can't find it, you eventually discover it is on another page as a pop-up.

Worst Part

The worst part is yet to come when you realize you are listening to some lame brain advertisement about something you couldn't give a hoot about. Ads make some sites money, but I didn't click it, and I don't want to hear it.

Nothing makes me want to leave a site any faster than those auto-starting videos. “The sooner the quicker,” my Grandmother used to say.  How about you?
