Unshorten

By now you are well aware that clicking on certain links can get you into trouble faster than the blink of an eye.

You need to know exactly what you are clicking on.

But then some sites such as Twitter and Facebook often have those shortened links to save space. Heck even RoseGarden uses shortened links sometimes.

So how do you know what you are clicking on? How do you tell the good from the bad?

My way of doing it is to use this site called Unshorten. It!

Here’s a shortened url that gives the time in all provinces of Canada.    http://tinyurl.com/r27cf

Copy and drop  it into the Unshorten box on their site. It will tell you exactly what it is, and give you some ratings for the site. You can check out any shortened urls this way. Sometimes you may want to know for sure just to be safe.

If you bookmark it, or save it to your favourites, it is handy whenever you need it.

Of course if you need to go the other way, have an extremely long url that you need to shorten, you can always go to Tiny URL.
