Lately the news has had the subject of hockey frequently included. Discussions involve how dangerous it is and what can be done to prevent or lessen injuries.

Thinking safety, there has been investigations of certain protective items, and the banning of body checking for younger players.

I’ve always thought hockey to be a pretty rough game, and in recent years it has gotten worse.

I say take away that stupid puck. No one will get hit, no one will get hurt. There will be no need for body checking at any level.

We could go on and ban the stick. Its hard and flat on one end, sharp and pointed on the other, with the possibility of causing injury when used certain in ways.

With the puck gone it won't be needed anyway.

Or         

Make the stick out of softer materials such as foam, and the puck be replaced by sponge balls.
