Do Not Call

There's a lot of talk about "Do Not Call" lists in our country that are in place or about to be put in place. Supposedly this will prevent telemarketers calling you because you have requested them not to through this agency.

Trouble is, there are so many exceptions you will get just as many calls anyway. For example, just adjust your procedure a little bit and become a charity.

Another example, I had a young lady at the door several weeks ago. Right away she said, "I am not selling anything, and I am not collecting any money." Then she tried to pass me a binder full of pictures and information on an overseas child organization asking, "Are you familiar with this?" Of course I was, it is most always on TV touted by various celebrities.

She wanted me to volunteer a dollar a month to help. Well I am not saying anything for or against the organization, but if I was inclined to participate it wouldn't be through a method like that.

So was she telling the truth when she said "I am not selling anything, and I am not collecting any money?" Depends on your point of view doesn't it?

That is the way I see this Do Not Call thing shaping up. All they have to do is adjust slightly to fit the exception category, which is pretty easy.

That could also mean those who don't bother to put their name on the Do Not Call list will receive twice as many calls. After all they have to call someone to make a living.

Am I going to put my name and number on the Do Not Call list? Banane01Not a chance. I will answer those calls, with recorder in hand. I get too much free blog material that way.
